In the early 1900s, prior to the advent of refrigeration, the Ice House was owned by the Cedar Lake Ice and Fuel Company and served the Minneapolis community as the location for storing large blocks of ice.
After years of decay, Icehouse Plaza was extensively renovated and renewed, resulting in over 31,000 square feet of urban space teeming with a blend of commercial, office and residential tenants.
Some of the tenants include Vertical Endeavors, Jasmine Deli, Black Sheep Coal-Fired Pizza, Icehouse Mpls, Dunn Brothers Coffee and Eat Street Social. In addition, the Icehouse Plaza boasts a unique green space/plaza that is complete with unique sculptures and stones recovered from the Metropolitan Building – celebrating the heritage of the historic building and area.
