St. Paul Rent Stabilization Under Review

As the Twin Cities' multi-family industry moves towards a post-pandemic recovery, rent stabilization policies are under review in the city of St. Paul. In February 2022, St. Paul Mayor Melvin Carter proposed a 15-year exemption for new housing from the city's rent control initiative during the State of the City address. The proposal would mean new housing would not be subject to St. Paul's rent-control action for 15 years after its built.

"Every single city that we can find with the rent stabilization policy in place provides an exemption to incentivize construction of new housing units, and so should St. Paul," stated Mayor Carter. (MPR News)

Paster Properties will actively track progress on the status of St. Paul's rent stabilization policies as updates unfold in the coming months
